Send from your own domain

Register a domain such as newsletter.yoursite.com under “Custom Domain”, add the three DKIM records at your DNS provider, then change “From Email” to an address on that domain. Available from the Growth plan.

On Growth and aboveLast updated:

Your own domain lets your issues come from an address on it, such as [email protected], with full authentication. It is for sending email only: it does not move your public page to your domain, which stays at mujaz.io/@handle.

1. Register the domain

  1. 1. Open Settings → Domain & Email (Opens in the Mujaz app) and scroll to “Custom Domain”.
  2. 2. Type the domain alone, such as newsletter.yoursite.com, with no https:// and no /. A subdomain is recommended; the main domain also works.
  3. 3. Press “Register”. A checklist appears: “Add these records at your DNS provider”.

2. Add the records at your DNS provider

Open the DNS settings at your domain provider (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap or another) and add the records as shown. Every Name and Value has a “Copy” button.

  • Step 1, “Required”: three CNAME records (DKIM). Name like token._domainkey.domain, Value like token.dkim.amazonses.com. These alone are enough to start sending.
  • Step 2, “Recommended”: bounce address (SPF). On bounce.domain, an MX record pointing to feedback-smtp.us-east-1.amazonses.com with priority 10, and a TXT record v=spf1 include:amazonses.com ~all. Your existing SPF record on your domain stays as it is. Never add a second SPF record there.
  • Step 3: DMARC. Shown only when your domain has none: a TXT record on _dmarc.domain with v=DMARC1; p=none;. If your domain already has a DMARC record, keep it.

3. Check the records

Press “Check records” or “Check Status”. Changes can take a few minutes, sometimes a few hours. Mujaz also re-checks by itself every 30 minutes for the first 72 hours. Each DKIM row shows “Found”, “Not right yet” with the reason, or “Waiting”.

4. Change your sender address

When “Domain Status” and “DKIM Status” show verified, change “From Email” to an address on exactly that domain and press “Save Sender Settings”. If you registered newsletter.yoursite.com, use something like [email protected], not [email protected].

Good to know

  • The subdomain needs no website, A record or hosting. Only these records.
  • One sending domain per workspace, on every plan.
  • To change domains, press “Remove” first; the field is locked while a domain exists. Removing returns “From Email” to the Mujaz address.
  • Arabic and other non-Latin domain names are not supported.

Common questions

Does this put my public page on my domain?

No. The custom domain is for sending email only. Your public page stays at mujaz.io/@handle, and pointing a CNAME at Mujaz does not change that.

It still says Failed after 72 hours. What now?

Press “Remove”, register the domain again, and replace the records at your provider with the new ones. They have new tokens.

I see “Please enter a valid domain”. What's wrong?

Type only the domain, such as newsletter.yoursite.com, with no https:// and no /. Arabic-script domains are not supported.

  • When a DNS record doesn't verify

The three most common causes: a Cloudflare record that is proxied (orange cloud), a name with the domain typed twice, or a record that hasn't shown up yet. The Domain & Email tab shows each record's state and the reason it fails.

  • Sender name and address

Readers see your brand name in their inbox, and your issues come from your Mujaz address [email protected] with nothing to set up. From the Growth plan you can change the sender name, address and reply-to on the Domain & Email tab.

  • How to stay out of spam

Send only to people who asked for your newsletter, use full direct links, send to engaged readers, check the “Spam Score Checker” tips before sending, and send from your verified domain if you can. Mujaz handles the rest: an unsubscribe link in every email, no more mail to bounced or complaining addresses, and link checks before sending.

  • Send from your personal address

Type your address in “From Email”, press “Save Sender Settings”, then confirm it from the email that arrives there. No domain needed. Available from the Growth plan.
