Move from another platform

From beehiiv, Mailchimp, Hodhod, Kitabh or a Google Sheet: export your subscribers as a CSV file with an email column, then import it under Subscribers → Import CSV. Only subscribers move, not past issues.

Last updated:

It works the same for every platform: a CSV file with an email column. Mujaz detects the columns by itself.

From each platform

  • beehiiv, Hodhod and Kitabh: use the platform's subscriber export and save the file as CSV. If you can't find it, ask that platform's support for a CSV of your list.
  • Mailchimp: export your audience as CSV and keep the status column. Mujaz skips anyone marked unsubscribed, cleaned, bounced or complained, so opt-outs never come back.
  • Google Sheets: download the sheet as CSV.
  • Excel: save the file as CSV. .xlsx files aren't accepted.

Import

  1. 1. Open Subscribers (Opens in the Mujaz app) and press Import CSV.
  2. 2. Pick the file (up to 10 MB and 50,000 rows).
  3. 3. Check the summary, and press View skipped to see what was skipped and why.

Columns, skipped rows and error messages are covered in Import subscribers.

Common questions

My email column has a different name

Mujaz recognises common headers such as email, Email Address, البريد الإلكتروني and ايميل. If you see “No email column found…”, rename the column to email.

Can I set each subscriber's language?

Yes. Add a language column with ar or en.

Does the import start the welcome email?

No. Importing never sends anything.

  • Import subscribers from a CSV file

In Subscribers press Import CSV and pick a CSV file up to 10 MB with an email column. Mujaz detects the columns by itself, and importing never sends anything.

  • Move from Substack

Export your subscriber list from Substack as a CSV file, then import it in Mujaz under Subscribers → Import CSV. Only subscribers move; your past issues stay on Substack.

  • Subscriber lists

A list is a group of subscribers you send a particular issue to. Create one on the Subscriber Lists tab, add people by hand or with a CSV, then choose it in the editor under “Audience Segment”.

  • The welcome email for new subscribers

The welcome email goes automatically to every new subscriber the moment they become active, once per subscriber. Create it in Settings → “Automation”, then switch on “Enable automation”. Available on every plan.
