Send a test email before you send

In the editor's Review step, send a test copy of the issue to yourself before it reaches subscribers. Each issue can be tested to up to 5 different addresses, and every test counts toward your monthly email allowance.

A test email is a copy of the issue that goes only to the addresses you type, so you can see it in a real inbox before the real send. No subscriber gets it.

How to send one

  1. 1. Open the issue in the editor and go to the “Review” step.
  2. 2. Under “Send Test Email”, type one or more addresses in “Email Address(es)”, separated by commas.
  3. 3. Optionally, write what to check in “Test Notes (Optional)”. The note appears at the top of the test copy.
  4. 4. Press “Send Test”.

The test's subject starts with [TEST] so it's easy to spot in your inbox.

Limits

  • Up to 5 different addresses per issue. You can test to those same addresses again as often as you like.
  • 20 test sends an hour per workspace.
  • Every test counts toward your monthly email allowance, like any other email.

Common questions

Do subscribers get the test?

No. Only the addresses you typed in the test field get it.

Why can't I test to a new address?

The issue has already been tested to 5 different addresses. Use one of those 5.

Do tests use my allowance?

Yes. Each test counts toward your monthly email allowance, which resets on the 1st of the month.

  • Send an issue now or schedule it

In the Review step, choose “Send immediately” or “Schedule for later”, then press the send button. You can cancel a schedule from the Scheduled tab as long as sending hasn't started.

  • Send your first issue

Add at least one subscriber, press Create Newsletter and go through the editor's four steps: Start, Content, Settings and Review. Send yourself a test before you send.

  • The email looks different in Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail

Each email app shows messages its own way, so some differences are expected, especially in fonts. Turn on Pixel-perfect headlines so headings arrive in your font in every inbox, and check with test emails before sending.

  • Plan usage and limits

Each plan has a monthly allowance of emails and AI uses, plus a limit on subscribers and team seats. Email and AI allowances reset on the 1st of each month, and on each paid renewal.
